How to Resolve “Administrator Approval Required” When Connecting Microsoft

When you register a TimeRex account or connect TimeRex using a Microsoft account, the message “Administrator approval required” may appear and prevent you from completing the operation.

This occurs when your organization’s security settings require administrator permission before an external application such as TimeRex can be accessed.

This article explains how to configure the required settings in Microsoft.

A user with Microsoft administrator privileges must complete the procedure. If you are a general user, share this article with your administrator.

This issue concerns Microsoft settings rather than TimeRex. Contact Microsoft Support if you need more information about the settings or have questions.

If TimeRex is not listed under Enterprise applications in the Microsoft Entra admin center, a Microsoft administrator must first register a TimeRex account.

After the administrator completes the registration, TimeRex appears under Enterprise applications in the Microsoft Entra admin center.

Grant administrator consent

Complete the following steps in the Microsoft Entra admin center.

  1. Go to Enterprise applications > Admin consent requests.

  2. Click TimeRex to open its details.

  3. Under Review permissions and consent, click Approve.

    • Use a Microsoft account with administrator privileges.

  4. On the TimeRex permissions screen, confirm that the required permissions have been granted.

  5. Try registering the TimeRex account or connecting Microsoft again.

Revoke consent

To remove organization-wide consent for TimeRex, go to Enterprise applications > TimeRex > Properties, then click Delete.

Note: Deleting the enterprise application may affect users in your organization who have connected TimeRex to Microsoft. Review the scope of the impact before proceeding.
